Write I am urging you to vote NO on Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House. I do not trust his leadership, his priorities, or his willingness to hold powerful political interests accountable.
Hakeem Jeffries should not have been meeting with Jared Kushner. House Judiciary Democrats opened an investigation into Kushner’s financial conflicts of interest in April. A leader who promises to “hold every single member of the Trump cartel accountable” should not be sitting down privately with a man his own party is investigating.
Jared Kushner holds no elected office. He is the president’s son-in-law, with no actual government job. The voters of Brooklyn and Queens sent Jeffries to Congress. They did not send him to hand private access to an unaccountable relative of the president.
Jeffries financial ties to AIPAC are another serious concern. Campaign finance reporting has documented more than $1 million in AIPAC-earmarked contributions associated with his campaign since 2021. Jeffries has made statements about not punishing those on the right, raising serious concerns about whether he is willing to hold Republicans accountable when accountability is warranted. Americans do not need another politician who talks about accountability but treats it as a political convenience.
