I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent revelations regarding FBI Director Kash Patel's misuse of government resources and abuse of power. As a constituent, I urge you to take immediate action to investigate this matter and call for Director Patel's removal from his position.
The facts surrounding this situation are deeply troubling. Director Patel, who has only been in his role since February, has been caught using an FBI jet for personal travel to visit his girlfriend at a wrestling event. This occurred on October 25, when flight logs show the FBI plane landing near Penn State, coinciding with his girlfriend's performance at a Real American Freestyle wrestling event. The plane later flew to Nashville, further suggesting non-official use.
What makes this situation even more egregious is the hypocrisy displayed by Director Patel. He previously criticized former FBI Director Chris Wray for similar use of government jets, calling him a "#GovernmentGangster." Now, Patel appears to be engaging in the very behavior he once condemned.
Furthermore, in an apparent attempt to cover up his actions, flight records for Patel's jet have been blocked from public tracking. This lack of transparency is unacceptable for a public servant in such a high-ranking position.
The misuse of taxpayer funds is particularly alarming given the context of the ongoing government shutdown, which had reached its 32nd day at the time of these events. While many federal employees were furloughed or working without pay, Director Patel was using government resources for personal benefit.
Adding to the concerns about Patel's leadership, he has already dismissed three heads of the FBI's critical incident response group since taking office. The most recent firing of Steven Palmer, a 27-year veteran of the FBI, appears to be in retaliation for press stories about Patel's jet use.
I urge you to take the following actions:
1. Call for an immediate, thorough investigation into Director Patel's use of government resources.
2. Demand full transparency regarding the FBI's jet usage and the reinstatement of public flight tracking.
3. Push for Director Patel's removal if these allegations are substantiated.
The integrity of our federal law enforcement agencies is paramount to maintaining public trust. We cannot allow such blatant abuse of power and misuse of taxpayer funds to go unchecked. I look forward to hearing about the steps you will take to address this critical issue.
