Oppose Burdensome Voting Restrictions in H.R. 22

To: Sen. Costa, Rep. Abney, Gov. Shapiro

From: A verified voter in Pittsburgh, PA

April 14

I cannot support H.R. 22, the SAVE Act, as it imposes discriminatory and undemocratic restrictions on the fundamental right to vote. Requiring documentary proof of citizenship risks disenfranchising marginalized communities and creates an unnecessary barrier to ballot access reminiscent of McCarthyism's "un-American" witch hunts. Our nation was founded on principles of equality and democratic participation for all citizens. This bill undermines those core values by questioning the "Americanness" of eligible voters without just cause. I urge rejecting this unacceptable legislation that breeds division and weakens our democracy.
