Here is what I read on social media this morning: "The Democrats’ plan if they win in November is to drink a beer and pretend they saved democracy, and then pretend the government continues to function traditionally." "The Republicans' plan is quite literally to deploy thousands of police and National Guard troops to round up immigrants, and citizens who were immigrants, and put them in camps. They plan to purge any centrist or left employees from the government. They plan to unleash DOJ on their enemies. "See the problem?" This is 100% correct. Winning in November is not enough. Unless you take affirmative steps to fix what is broken in our democracy and protect it, you're just slightly delaying the inevitable takeover by the fascists. Get to work. Reform the Supreme Court. Fix the missing guardrails. Make people understand the danger we're in, and tell them what you're going to do to protect them. This is literally your job. We are counting on you. If you fail, it will mean no less than the end of American democracy and incalculable harm to Americans and the world. Not hyperbole. Reality. Wake up.
