I am writing to express my strong opposition to any proposed cuts to Medicaid as outlined in the current GOP budget plan. Reducing Medicaid funding would disproportionately harm our most vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and individuals with both temporary and permanent disabilities. This essential program provides critical healthcare access for millions of Americans, and any reduction in funding would have devastating consequences.
Furthermore, with the expected end to virtual visits being reimbursed through Medicaid, these cuts would only worsen access to care for those who rely on telehealth services. Many people, particularly those in rural areas or with mobility challenges, depend on virtual healthcare options to receive necessary treatment. Limiting both funding and access at the same time would be catastrophic.
Medicaid is not a program that should be subject to budgetary reductions—it is a fundamental support system for those who need it most. I urge you to reject any efforts to cut Medicaid funding and instead advocate for policies that strengthen healthcare access for all Americans.
Please let me know where you stand on this issue. I appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to your response.
