I am concerned that President-elect Trump has not yet signed the legally required ethics agreement for his transition team as mandated by the Presidential Transition Enhancement Act of 2019. This bipartisan law, which he signed himself in 2020, requires disclosure of conflicts of interest and adoption of a code of ethical conduct. Failure to comply is already impeding the transition process by restricting access to federal resources. I urge President-elect Trump to uphold the law and sign the ethics pledge immediately to allow a smooth transfer of power. His widespread business holdings raise legitimate conflict of interest concerns that must be addressed transparently through this legally binding agreement. Prioritizing ethical governance over personal interests is crucial to preserving public trust and the integrity of our democratic institutions.
