Their roles and responsibilities are outlined in laws and regulations, not subject to the whims of billionaires. This demand undermines principles of ethical governance and democratic accountability. Public service should be valued, not denigrated or threatened by the powerful. A strong civil service is essential for an effective, impartial government that works for all citizens.
