This brazen attempt to remake the executive branch demands rigorous congressional oversight. While Republicans currently oppose compelling Musk's testimony, they should reconsider this stance in the interest of protecting the system of checks and balances. The administration's actions amount to an unprecedented consolidation of power in the hands of an unelected private citizen. Allowing Musk to evade congressional scrutiny would further erode the role of the legislative branch and democratic norms.
