The Exploitation of Christ’s Name for Power and Control
To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Dean, Gov. Abbott, Pres. Trump, Lt. Gov. Patrick, Sen. Hughes, Rep. Moran, Sen. Cruz

I am writing to express my deep concern over the increasing entanglement of government and religion, specifically the BLATANT EXPLOITATION OF CHRISTIANITY FOR POLITICAL GAIN. We see what is happening—the manipulation of Christ’s teachings to justify stripping away freedoms, controlling the public, and financially exploiting those who are most vulnerable. If you claim to have faith, I ask you: How will you explain your role in perverting Christ’s name for power? Jesus never called for a government that enforces religious laws. In Matthew 22:21, he made it clear: “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” When people sought to make him king, he rejected political power (John 6:15). Yet today, we see politicians using faith not to serve, but to control—to strip away rights, to force obedience, and to fill their own pockets under the guise of righteousness. Policies like those promoted through Project 2025 do not reflect Christ’s love or his teachings. Jesus called for “loving your neighbor” (Matthew 22:39) and “doing good to those who hate you” (Luke 6:27). He did not call for a government that punishes the marginalized while elevating a select few who claim moral superiority. This is not faith—it is corruption. Jesus openly condemned religious leaders who used faith for personal gain: “Woe to you, teachers of the law… You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces… You devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Therefore, you will be punished more severely.” (Matthew 23:13-14) That is exactly what is happening today. Politicians are using Christianity as a weapon, as a means to control, as a way to exploit people financially while claiming to do God’s work. You do not serve Christ by forcing religious doctrine into law; you serve greed and power at the expense of those you claim to represent. The Founding Fathers understood the dangers of government-backed religion, which is why the First Amendment was crafted to prevent religious rule. Faith is strongest when it is freely chosen, not legislated. The government should not dictate religious beliefs, nor should it exploit faith to push an agenda that serves only the powerful. So I ask you again—if you truly have faith, how will you justify what you are doing? How will you stand before God and explain that you used Christ’s name not to uplift, but to divide, control, and profit? The people see through this charade, and history will remember those who chose power over principle. It is time to stop the corruption and return to the true teachings of Christ—love, justice, and compassion. Stop using God as a political tool, and start serving the people as you were elected to do!
