Why Is the Pentagon Renaming Ships Instead of Protecting Americans?

To: Sen. Cornyn, Pres. Trump, Sen. Cruz, Rep. Casar

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

The Pentagon and Trump administration’s decision to strip Harvey Milk’s name from a U.S. Navy ship during Pride Month is a significant act of erasure. Milk, a Navy veteran and gay rights leader, represents the courage and sacrifice of American service. Removing his name, along with those of civil rights icons like Thurgood Marshall and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, sends a message that only certain Americans are valued. I urge you to reject the politics of exclusion. This isn't reflective of the best of America. We face real threats, and renaming ships should not be our priority. America’s greatness lies in inclusion, not erasure. We need leaders who uplift us rather than rewrite our history for political gain.
