I’m writing to urge you to reconsider the United States’ current approach to military support and foreign policy in the Middle East, particularly regarding Israel and the broader regional conflict. Continued unconditional arms support risks further escalation and draws the U.S. deeper into conflicts that do not clearly serve long-term American security interests.
Recent reporting and ongoing developments in the region—including renewed fighting involving Israel, Hezbollah, and tensions involving Iran—highlight how quickly the situation can spiral. The United States should prioritize de-escalation, diplomatic pressure, and restraint in military engagement rather than policies that can be perceived as enabling continued expansion of hostilities.
I am concerned that reactionary and overly militarized responses to complex regional conflicts increase the likelihood of wider war and instability, including threats to global energy security and American lives abroad. U.S. policy should focus on reducing incentives for escalation, including reviewing arms transfers that may contribute to sustained or expanded conflict.
I respectfully urge you to support stronger diplomatic engagement and consider conditioning or limiting military assistance in ways that encourage accountability and movement toward ceasefire and long-term regional stability.
