The ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza has triggered a dire humanitarian crisis, with the number of displaced Palestinians now reaching 1.9 million according to UN figures. Fierce fighting rages in residential areas like Shujayea, while the Israeli army has ordered civilians to evacuate eastern Khan Younis, forcing hundreds of patients to flee hospitals amid the bombardment. This mass displacement of an already besieged population is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms. Immediate action is needed to halt Israel's disproportionate use of force, enforce an unconditional ceasefire, and facilitate unfettered humanitarian access to Gaza. The cyclical pattern of violence will only perpetuate more suffering unless the root causes, including Israel's illegal occupation and blockade, are addressed through a just and lasting political solution in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions. The rights and dignity of the Palestinian people must be upheld.
