Pennsylvania's Selling Out Its Own People

To: Rep. Bernstine, Gov. Shapiro, Sen. Vogel

From: A constituent in Valencia, PA

April 16

Pennsylvania is a Commonwealth — for the common wealth of all its people. That means investing in Pennsylvanians themselves, not handing public money to interstate and multinational corporations while our communities struggle. We must fully fund our public schools, libraries, healthcare, and transit systems. These are the foundations that lift everyone — not just the wealthy, but working families, the poor, and the vulnerable. Trickle-down economics has failed us time and again. It's time to build Pennsylvania from the bottom up. We must end the school-to-prison pipeline. Every dollar spent on punitive, for-profit incarceration is a dollar stolen from a child's future. Restorative justice works. Invest in students, not systems designed to profit from their failure. We must legalize cannabis, both to generate revenue for these priorities and to end a policy that has disproportionately harmed low-income communities and communities of color. Pennsylvania should work for all Pennsylvanians — regardless of national origin, sexual orientation, or whatever circumstance of birth brought them here. United we stand, divided we fall. Fund the Commonwealth from the bottom up.
