Investigate DOGE cybersecurity violations, data breach at NLRB

To: Sen. Warren, Rep. Trahan, Sen. Markey

From: A verified voter in Lowell, MA

April 16

Congress must urgently investigate the DOGE team for potential violations of the Privacy Act and severe cybersecurity breaches that have compromised sensitive government data. The whistleblower's disclosure paints a deeply disturbing picture. The DOGE engineers demanded unrestricted access to the National Labor Relations Board's systems, disabling logging and monitoring tools to cover their tracks. This reckless disregard for standard security protocols enabled the undetected exfiltration of vast amounts of sensitive case data, including confidential information on union activities, legal proceedings, and corporate trade secrets. The deletion of logs and user accounts further obfuscates their activities, preventing a full audit trail. Compounding these troubling actions, the systems were seemingly left vulnerable, as evidenced by the near real-time attempts by an IP address in Russia to access the newly created DOGE accounts with valid credentials. While the attempts were blocked, the exposure of such sensitive data to potential adversaries is an unacceptable risk to national security. The implications of this data breach are severe, extending far beyond the NLRB. There are credible reports that DOGE has replicated these practices across multiple federal agencies, amassing troves of Americans' personal and financial information without adequate safeguards or justification. This brazen disregard for privacy rights and cybersecurity protocols cannot be tolerated. Congress has a constitutional duty to conduct a comprehensive investigation into DOGE's activities, subpoenaing all relevant individuals and records. Those found culpable must face appropriate consequences for compromising the integrity of government systems and the private data they are entrusted to protect. Accountability and transparency are paramount to restoring public trust and ensuring the federal government can effectively fulfill its mandate to serve the American people.
