Our 2nd amendment rights are under threat by the current administration. The killing of Alex Pretti, who was licensed to carry a firearm, by ICE agents and the statements that followed should concern every gun owning Alabamian. Kash Patel said on Fox News this weekend, “You cannot bring a firearm loaded with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It’s that simple. You don’t have the right to break the law and incite violence.” Mr Patel is wrong. Americans shouldn’t have to choose between our 1st Amendment right to protest and our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. DHS claims that Alex Pretti reached for his weapon or the weapon of one of the ICE agents, anyone with eyes can see that is false. Alabamians are smarter than that. How long before this precedent is turned on Alabama gun owners? Something must be done about this before our 1st and 2nd Amendment rights are permanently damaged. I am asking you to take action today. Do your part as the legislative branch to check this overreach by the executive branch.
