We demand that the Senate prioritize passing legislation for a strong Red Flag law, also known as an Extreme Risk Protection Order. These laws empower law enforcement and loved ones to temporarily remove firearms from individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others. Red Flag laws have proven effective in preventing gun violence and suicides across several states that have implemented them. As gun violence survivors, we have experienced immense trauma that forever changes lives. It is unacceptable that our elected officials continue to allow such preventable devastation. The time for platitudes has long passed - meaningful action to keep our communities safe through common-sense gun laws like comprehensive Red Flag protections is urgently needed now. We call on the Senate to demonstrate the moral courage to stand up to gun lobby interests and protect American lives by swiftly passing a robust national Red Flag Act.
