I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent executive orders signed by Donald Trump targeting transgender individuals, as well as the blatant use of a transphobic slur by a sitting U.S. congresswoman. These attacks on the transgender and LGBTQ+ community are not only dangerous, but they also echo the early warning signs of fascism seen throughout history—including Nazi Germany. The normalization of hate speech and legal discrimination must not be tolerated. As your constituent, I am demanding that you take a firm and public stance against these actions and actively work to protect and expand LGBTQ+ rights at both the state and federal levels. I will be watching your actions closely, and my vote will reflect your commitment to defending human rights. I am asking you to take the following concrete steps: 1 Publicly condemn the use of transphobic slurs and any anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric in Congress. Hate speech has no place in our government. 2 Introduce or co-sponsor legislation that strengthens federal protections for transgender individuals, ensuring access to healthcare, education, employment, and public accommodations. 3 Fight against any executive orders that seek to strip rights from transgender and LGBTQ+ Americans. These policies put lives at risk. 4 Support the immediate passage of the Equality Act to enshrine LGBTQ+ protections in federal law and prevent states from enacting discriminatory policies. 5 Push for consequences for members of Congress who engage in hate speech against marginalized communities. Words have power, and elected officials must be held accountable. History has shown us what happens when governments normalize the dehumanization of minority groups. We cannot allow these dangerous policies and rhetoric to go unchallenged. I expect to see real action from you on this issue.
