I am outraged by the Trump administration’s blatant defiance of a federal court order by deporting migrants to El Salvador. This lawlessness, combined with Trump’s disturbing praise for El Salvador’s inhumane mega-prison, demands immediate action.
Illegal Deportations in Violation of Court Order
On March 15, 2025, U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg issued a temporary restraining order halting deportations under the Alien Enemies Act. Despite this, Trump’s administration deported over 250 individuals, violating both U.S. law and basic human rights. These individuals are now in El Salvador’s “terrorism confinement center,” a prison notorious for mass detentions, abuse, and lack of due process.
Trump’s Endorsement of Human Rights Abuses
Trump has praised these prisons as a “great deterrent” and even floated the idea of using them for U.S. criminals. This administration openly supports human rights violations, abandoning any pretense of due process.
Congress Must Act Now
By failing to hold Trump accountable, Congress has emboldened him to ignore the law. If deportations can continue after a federal court order, what stops him from ignoring the judiciary entirely? Will you:
1. Investigate and prosecute all officials who ordered or carried out these illegal deportations.
2. Hold Trump and his administration in criminal contempt for defying a federal court order.
3. Condemn the use of inhumane prisons for U.S. deportations and ensure compliance with human rights laws.
4. Defend the judiciary’s authority before Trump renders it meaningless.
This is not just about immigration—it’s about whether the rule of law still exists in America. Will you stand up, or will Congress continue enabling Trump’s lawlessness?
