Happy holidays, While I hope you are able to enjoy this time of year, I also wanted to reach out in regards to a declaration from the yet in power presi dent-elect. He has vowed to rename our tallest peak which is a cultural misstep. Denali has been the name of the mountain for centuries and it was political pride that the mountain was named after another yet to be president McKinley who had won his own election at the time. Alaska where this mountain resides had returned the name to Denali years before the Department of Interior made the correction as well. I do not support this non-sensical effort of removing another hard won battle to recognize the erasure of the First People. I ask that you oppose this renaming attempt and acknowledge we have more important work than those who ignore our history.
