Support an International Agreement to Slow Down AI

To: Sen. Duckworth, Rep. Schakowsky, Sen. Durbin

From: A verified voter in Evanston, IL

October 4

As your constituent, I’m asking you to call for an international agreement to slow down the development of advanced AI. AI is developing too rapidly for humanity to stay in the driver’s seat and the people closest to this technology are the ones sounding the alarm. • The heads of all four leading AI companies are publicly calling for a slowdown and asking governments to regulate them. • More than 1,300 of their own employees have signed an open letter (https://www.pacingthefrontier.com/) saying the same. • 68% (https://www.filesforprogress.org/datasets/2026/9/dfp_ai_development_pause.pdf) of voters support a pause on advanced AI, with majority bipartisan support. No company can stop on its own, and no country can either. This is why we need global collaboration. Please publicly call for an international agreement to slow down AI, with the United States leading the way. We have a real chance to get this right but it takes leadership. Thank you for yours. Many creators on YouTube have called for action through the TeamHuman.org movement. If we don’t slow down now, who knows what could happen?
