END THE HEALTHCARE HOSTAGE CRISIS: A Demand for Immediate ACA Credit Extension

To: Rep. Burlison, Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Overcast, Sen. Hawley, Pres. Trump, Sen. Hudson, Gov. Kehoe

From: A constituent in Kirbyville, MO

November 12

I am outraged that the only outcome of the recent shutdown was a promise for a delayed vote. This is not governance; it is political cruelty designed to prolong anxiety and leverage my family’s healthcare. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) Premium Tax Credits are not negotiable. They are vital subsidies that keep millions of Americans insured. Delaying the vote until December is an active threat to my family’s financial and physical health, forcing us to face skyrocketing premiums when open enrollment is already underway. The ACA marketplace works: premiums within it rise slower than those outside of it. It has saved Americans millions. Your colleagues have wasted eight years promising a "better" plan they have never produced. Until that hypothetical, perfect plan materializes, the status quo—affordable coverage—must be protected. The time for waiting is over. The vote for my family’s health should not be a holiday gift contingent on a legislative schedule. It is an immediate necessity. You must stop delaying. I demand you use every procedural tool and every ounce of political pressure available to force an immediate, clean vote to secure these ACA credits. Protect our healthcare NOW.
