The actions taken by Elon Musk's team at the Office of Personnel Management are highly concerning and raise serious issues regarding government oversight, cybersecurity, and the fair treatment of civil servants. Locking career employees out of critical data systems that contain sensitive personal information on millions of federal workers is unacceptable. This appears to be part of a broader effort to radically downsize the federal workforce without proper checks and balances. Such drastic changes should not be driven by the whims of a private citizen, no matter how wealthy or influential. The federal government manages vital programs and services that impact all Americans. Proper procedures and Congressional oversight must be followed for any proposed reforms. Circumventing long-standing processes risks undermining core democratic principles and the civil service system established to insulate governance from political motivations. I urge you to investigate these actions at OPM and ensure measures are put in place to protect federal workers, safeguard sensitive data, and maintain governmental integrity. Hasty and reckless efforts at so-called efficiency must not be allowed to trample workers' rights, data privacy, or the public interest. The federal workforce and the American people deserve better than chaos and upheaval imposed by an unelected billionaire. Responsible and lawful governance should be the top priority.
