An Open Letter

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Gillen

From: A verified voter in Floral Park, NY

November 6

The American People deserve to know who is financing political messages intended to influence their votes. We are calling for meaningful campaign finance reform that establishes the following principles: OUR DEMANDS ZERO SUPER PAC SPENDING IN OUR ELECTIONS. Prohibit SUPER PACs from financing advertisements, campaigns, and other election-related spending intended to influence the election or defeat of candidates. FULL FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY. Require complete disclosure of the sources of all funds used for political spending. No anonymous or concealed major contributors. NO HIDDEN MONEY. Close loopholes that allow contributors to conceal their identities by rerouting political donations through shell companies, nonprofit organizations, intermediary groups, or other entities. ACCOUNTABILITY. Establish meaningful enforcement measures and penalties for organizations that violate campaign finance disclosure requirements. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN ELECTIONS. Protect the ability of candidates to communicate with voters without being overwhelmed by unlimited outside political spending. LEGISLATIVE ACTION. Require Congress and State legislatures to pursue the legal and constitutional reforms necessary to accomplish these goals.
