Stop this latest and worst act of ultimate corruption.
A president should not sue his own administration and then strike a deal that gives his cronies a slush fund payout while forever barring scrutiny of his business dealings—even if there is reason to suspect tax fraud or other misconduct.
The recent agreement with the federal government ends all pending tax audits of President Trump and his businesses, prevents the government from taking any action regarding already-filed tax returns, and creates a $1.8 billion fund potentially benefiting his allies. In exchange, he withdrew a lawsuit against the IRS and ended administrative claims, while receiving no direct financial penalty or accountability.
This undermines the rule of law, sets a dangerous precedent, and erodes public trust. Congress must investigate and act to prevent any private or political interests from overriding accountability for the highest office in the land.
