Denying Rights, Defending Oppression, and Deposing Justice for Americans
To: Sen. Casey, Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Fitzpatrick, Pres. Biden
From: A constituent in Feasterville Trevose, PA
December 21
I am writing to express my profound concern regarding the systemic injustices suffocating our nation. These issues are interconnected symptoms of a government that denies essential rights, defends oppressive systems, and devalues equity and humanity. Millions of Americans are denied universal healthcare, leaving many to suffer and die unnecessarily. Tax-paying citizens and working families contribute to a system that refuses to defend their right to health, instead prioritizing cycles of oppression and suffering. At home, we face a homelessness crisis of staggering proportions. How is it acceptable for empty homes to far outnumber the unhoused while corporations hoard property and profit off human despair? Congress defends this status quo and refuses to treat housing as a fundamental right. The epidemic of gun violence and school shootings is compounded by legislative inaction. Rather than passing common-sense reforms, lawmakers continue defending the profits of the gun lobby, leaving our children and communities exposed to preventable harm. Every day Congress fails to act is another day of denial—of safety, accountability, and compassion. Meanwhile, militarized policing and projects like “Cop Cities” reflect a government that prioritizes control over care. These initiatives suppress dissent, criminalize poverty, and divert resources from programs that could address community needs, such as education, mental health services, and job creation. Even within the justice system, we see glaring failures, like the case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. Her continued imprisonment is a stark reminder of how federal agencies act above the law, denying accountability and defending gross miscarriages of justice. Her plight undermines confidence in the fairness and morality of our legal system. We are drowning under these injustices, which are weighing heavily on the collective soul of this nation. Congress has the power—and the moral obligation—to address these issues with bold, systemic solutions: 1. Implement universal healthcare to ensure every citizen has access to medical care as a fundamental right. 2. Divest from military aid that fuels oppression abroad, including ending aid to Israel's occupation of Palestine. 3. End the homelessness crisis by treating housing as a human right and holding corporations accountable for hoarding resources. 4. Pass comprehensive gun reform to protect communities and prevent further tragedies. 5. Demilitarize police forces and invest in restorative justice and community programs that address the root causes of violence and inequality. 6. Grant clemency to Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and reform the justice system to uphold accountability and human dignity. These issues cannot wait. I urge you to take immediate and meaningful action to defend the rights of all people, depose systemic oppression, and stop denying the humanity of those who are counting on you.
