The details shared by the US medical professionals who volunteered in Gaza paint a horrifying picture of the immense suffering and loss of civilian life, especially among women and children, caused by Israel's military assault. Their firsthand accounts describe gruesome injuries, rampant trauma, and a severely crippled healthcare system unable to adequately care for the overwhelming number of casualties. It is deeply concerning that these medical experts estimate the true death toll to already exceed 92,000 people, over 4% of Gaza's population. The targeting of civilians, destruction of vital infrastructure, and use of indiscriminate weapons supplied by the US appear to violate international laws governing armed conflict. In light of these grave allegations from credible eyewitnesses, I urge you to heed their call for an immediate ceasefire and a withdrawal of US military aid and diplomatic support for Israel until a permanent resolution can be negotiated. Continuing to provide arms and assistance enables further civilian suffering on a mass scale. An international arms embargo should be imposed on all parties to force an end to the violence and human rights violations. The people of Gaza have already endured an unconscionable toll - further bloodshed must be prevented through decisive action prioritizing human lives over military forces.
