The Trump administration has approved the first AI data center to be built on federal public land. The project will occupy roughly 88.5 acres of Bureau of Land Management land in southern Nevada and will set a major precedent for using America’s public lands for private AI infrastructure. This will open the door to commercial development on public lands while also raising concerns about habitat impacts, water use, and the enormous energy demands of large-scale data centers. This isn’t just about one facility. It’s about federal public lands becoming the next frontier for private AI development. You need to stop this before construction starts.
