I am your constituent and I am also a veteran. I am deeply concerned about these actions against veterans taken by this administration:
-mass employee firings at the VA (2,400 already, approx. 1/3rd at least were veterans)
-mistaken cancellations of multiple contracts necessary for providing veterans with healthcare
-denigration of veterans and their service by this administration (Trump's counsellor Habba saying the fired veterans weren't "fit to have a job at this moment," despite the mass nature of the firings indicating there was no individual review of these fired veterans' performance or fitness for their jobs).
And now interior Department of the VA reports indicate another 83,000 employees are set to be fired- a reduction in force of almost 20%.
We know what the results of this last action will be. Are the 22 veterans who die by suicide DAILY not enough for this administration? Because these drastic cuts will result in far more veteran deaths by suicide and due to lack of access to life-saving healthcare.
We fought for this country and were injured for this country. All so that we can be written off as unimportant by this administration. All, ultimately, in the name of privitization- or in other words, profitization.
Please take action today to begin investigations into this memo in both the House and Senate. Speak with your colleagues and encourage and inspire them to do the same.
Our lives as veterans are counting on you.
