Investigate Trump's Georgia Election Interference and Consider Impeachment

To: Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin, Rep. McDonald Rivet

From: A constituent in Saginaw, MI

December 18

Newly obtained audio recordings from the dismissed Fulton County criminal case reveal President Trump giving explicit instructions to Georgia Republicans on overturning the 2020 election results. These recordings document what constitutes sedition under federal law and demand immediate congressional investigation and consideration of impeachment proceedings. In a 12-minute phone call with late Georgia House Speaker David Ralston, Trump provided specific directions on conducting a special legislative session to overturn Georgia's certified election results. Trump falsely claimed he won Georgia by hundreds of thousands of votes when he actually lost by approximately 12,000 votes statewide. He instructed Ralston: "If we had a special session, we will present, and you will say, Here, it's been massive fraud. We're going to turn over the state." When Ralston suggested a federal judge might stop such action, Trump asked "Who's gonna stop you for that?" This demonstrates Trump's awareness that his scheme violated federal law while actively encouraging state officials to proceed anyway. Trump repeated debunked conspiracy theories about ballot boxes being stuffed at Atlanta's State Farm arena despite these claims being thoroughly investigated and disproven. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis alleged Trump illegally solicited Ralston to violate his oath of office by calling a special session to unlawfully appoint presidential electors. While Judge Scott McAfee quashed initial charges on technical specificity grounds, the underlying conduct documented in these recordings remains deeply troubling and potentially criminal under federal sedition statutes. This evidence shows Trump attempting to subvert the constitutional process of presidential succession through pressure on state officials. Such conduct strikes at the foundation of our democratic system and warrants the most serious congressional response available. I urge you to call for a formal investigation into these recordings and support impeachment proceedings against President Trump. The evidence of seditious conduct is clear and documented. Congress must act to defend the Constitution and ensure no president can attempt to overturn legitimate election results through coercion of state officials.
