The proposed amendments to bar ICE from deporting U.S. citizens are justified measures to uphold constitutional rights and due process. It is unconscionable that federal agencies would even entertain the idea of illegally deporting American citizens born on U.S. soil. This violates the 14th Amendment's guarantee of citizenship and denies individuals their fundamental rights without due process of law. Deportation of U.S. citizens is not only unconstitutional but an egregious violation of civil liberties that disregards over two centuries of jurisprudence. Allowing funds to be spent on such actions sets a dangerous precedent of government overreach and disregard for individual rights. These amendments are necessary to reaffirm the inviolable principles of citizenship and due process enshrined in the Constitution. Opposing these amendments effectively condones state-sanctioned human rights abuses against U.S. citizens themselves. We cannot stand by while federal agencies contemplate deporting Americans without just cause or fair trial. Upholding the 14th Amendment through these amendments is imperative to preserving constitutional democracy.
