The Trump administration is facing unprecedented public opposition that far exceeds the backlash during his first term, and I urge you to represent this overwhelming constituent sentiment by opposing his agenda.
According to data from Harvard's Crowd Counting Consortium, at least 10.3 million Americans have protested Trump since his second inauguration, with the actual number likely exceeding 15 million. Anti-Trump protests are approximately four times as common as they were at the same point in his first term. The second "No Kings Day" protests in October 2025 alone drew an estimated 5 to 6 million participants, likely surpassing the 2017 Women's March as the largest single-day political protest in American history.
This mobilization reflects broader public sentiment visible in polling data. Trump's net job approval stands at negative 19, with only 38.5% approving and 57.3% disapproving. Critically, low-political-knowledge voters who supported Trump by 11 points in 2024 now disapprove of him by 13 points, representing a 24-point swing among roughly 27% of the electorate. An AP-NORC poll found that 6 in 10 Americans say Trump has gone too far in sending federal immigration agents into cities, while 52% say he has made the economy worse.
This backlash is producing electoral consequences. Democrats have flipped 26 state legislative seats since Trump's return while Republicans have flipped zero. In special elections, Democrats are performing an average of 13 points better than Kamala Harris did in 2024. Democrats even won a rural Louisiana House seat in a Trump plus 13 district by 24 points, a 37-point overperformance.
Your constituents are clearly rejecting this administration's direction. I ask that you stand with the majority of Americans by opposing Trump's policies and supporting measures that protect our communities from his overreach.
