PEOPLE CRUSHED ALIVE, STARVED TO DEATH, AND STILL YOU ABUSE OUR UN VETO VOTE?
To: Sen. Peters, Rep. Walberg, Pres. Biden, Sen. Stabenow
From: A constituent in Jackson, MI
March 2
I'm not surprised anymore that my government abused our veto vote in the UN Security Council again, but I am absolutely disgusted. Israel was caught (and has been this entire time) in 4k murdering people they've been starving to death who were trying to get food. The Flour Massacre took the lives of 115, and injured over 750. The assertion that "we don't have all the facts on the ground" is a bold-face lie. There are videos and images of this massacre. If I have seen it, then I know you have, too. None of this is surprising, as barbaric as it is. On 10/9, Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant publicly stated, “We are imposing a complete siege on [Gaza]. No electricity, no food, no water, no fuel – everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we must act accordingly.” This is the rhetoric used to justify barbaric atrocities like yesterday, 3/1, where Israeli forces crushed a man, alive, with either a tank or bulldozer in the Zeitoun area in Gaza. His body is unrecognizable. One of the few parts of his body not completely flattened was his wrist that were still zip tied. This isn't event the first time they have done this, not just since 10/7, but historically to both Palestinians and those who support them. Justice has still not been given for American Rachel Corrie's brutal murder by Israeli forces, also crushed by a bulldozer. I demand that you: - Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire - Call for the immediate end of Israel's occupation and apartheid and support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace - Hold Israel accountable for their violations of the Genocide Convention and all other international laws by any means necessary - Secure the immediate release and safety of all Palestinians who have been abducted and held captive by Israel, including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7 - Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce Leahy Law - Reallocate all funds given to Israel and commit additional resources for ongoing humanitarian relief for Palestinians starting with immediately resume funding of UNRWA - Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict - Pass legislation that voids all anti-BDS laws at the federal level - Restore my right to free speech and the freedom of the press by condemning all discrimination or harassment for criticizing any government or political ideology (including zionism) and by doing everything possible to prevent future assaults to my rights, including governmental control and/or censorship of the Internet
