I am writing to express my strong support for granting statehood to Washington, D.C. The residents of Washington, D.C., numbering over 700,000, currently lack full representation in Congress, a right that all Americans deserve. Despite paying federal taxes, serving in the military, and contributing to our nation's economy, these citizens are denied the fundamental democratic right to have a voting voice in the legislative process.
Statehood for Washington, D.C. is a matter of fairness and justice. The current situation undermines the principles of democracy and equality upon which our country was founded. It is time to rectify this long-standing injustice and ensure that D.C. residents are treated with the same respect and dignity as citizens in other states.
I urge you to support the Washington, D.C. Admission Act and any other measures that would grant statehood to Washington, D.C. This issue transcends political affiliations and is about upholding the democratic values that are the cornerstone of our nation.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. I hope you will stand on the right side of history and advocate for the full representation of Washington, D.C.'s residents.
