I am horrified at the assassinations & attempted murder of four Minnesota politicians.
The MAGA movement enables and even encourages violence by the president’s destructive language in his posts and speeches, by the pardoning of the Jan 6 terrorists, and by the verbal violence against all political opponents by his Cabinet and followers.
The shootings of politicians is a direct result of this verbal and encouraged violence.
Where will it end? Will ordinary citizens be targeted next? The answer is yes—-shootings have not decreased. Will any family with a minority identity, like my queer family, need to fear violence against us? For that matter, will anyone who is Democrat—which is half the country!—need to fear?
This is abhorrent. I urge you to speak out in the strongest terms against this violent rhetoric, this mocking of political opponents as “other”, as less than human.
Urge your colleagues to do the same.
America needs to be safe for ALL her citizens.
