reject the Antisemitism Awareness Act (S. 558 / H.R. 1007)

To: Sen. Durbin, Rep. Schakowsky, Sen. Duckworth

From: A constituent in Chicago, IL

May 1

Voting in favor of the Antisemitism Awareness Act (S. 558 / H.R. 1007) in this current political climate would represent an endorsement of the Trump Administration’s escalating efforts to weaponize antisemitism as a pretext for undermining civil rights, deporting political dissidents, and attacking the fundamental pillars of our democracy, making the Jewish community and others less safe. there are many ways in which antisemitism is real and it is crucial to address them. this bill is too broad and is a pretext to attack American Muslims directly and the first amendment rights of tens of millions of others. I should be able to express disapproval over the annexation of Palestinian land and the extermination of Palestinians without rational fear of being arrested
