This bill poses a serious risk to freedom of speech and expression by incorrectly conflating criticism of the Israeli government with antisemitism. Federal laws already prohibit discrimination and harassment based on race, color, or national origin, including antisemitism. S. 4127 is an unnecessary measure that could unduly restrict legitimate speech and debate on college campuses regarding the policies and actions of a foreign government. Protecting the open exchange of ideas and the ability to voice dissent, even on controversial topics, is fundamental to American democratic values. I urge you to uphold these core freedoms and oppose this bill that threatens to improperly censor constitutionally-protected speech under the guise of addressing discrimination.
