After the sudden fall of the Assad regime in Syria, Israel wasted no time attacking and invading the sovereign nation. As Syrians struggle to reunite with loved ones and return home, Israel has in just two days, it launched nearly 500 airstrikes, bombing Damascus and other cities. Israel deployed tanks and troops beyond a demilitarized zone for the first time in 50 years, annexing land three times the size of Gaza. It also destroyed Syria’s navy, military bases, and aircraft, leaving the country defenseless.
Meanwhile, Israel continues to commit genocide in Gaza, bomb Lebanon, and enable settler violence in the West Bank. Despite this, Western leaders like President Biden remain silent, refusing to hold Israel accountable while sending billions in military aid to fuel these atrocities. We rightly condemn Russia’s annexations and aggression in Ukraine, so why the silence when Israel does the same to Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, and now Syria?
As your constituents, we demand you listen. Our situation at home is dire — we need tax dollars for healthcare, education, and infrastructure, not for funding bombs that violate international law. It’s time for the U.S. to end military aid to Israel, impose sanctions, and support divestment from companies profiting off Israel’s crimes.
Israel is not above the law. The U.S. must stop shielding Israel and enabling genocide. No more tax dollars for oppression and war. Take a stand for justice and human rights now.
