The reported decision by the Social Security Administration to move all public communications to X (formerly Twitter) is not just misguided—it is disgraceful. It shows how completely out of touch this administration is with the people it’s supposed to serve.
Let’s be clear: this is a blatant handout to Elon Musk, who already holds power through the so-called Department of Government Efficiency. Now he’s being handed exclusive control over Social Security’s public messaging—one of the most critical services in this country—on a private platform that spreads misinformation and thrives on chaos.
This is not modernization. It’s privatization disguised as convenience. Millions of seniors, disabled Americans, and vulnerable communities—many of whom don’t use or trust social media—are being pushed aside so that government officials can line each other’s pockets and cozy up to a tech oligarch.
It’s offensive. It’s dangerous. And it’s yet another example of this government abandoning everyday Americans in favor of billionaires and political insiders.
Shame on every official who thought this was acceptable. We demand immediate oversight and legislation to block this reckless policy before it does irreparable harm.
