40 Million Reasons to Remove the Hemp Ban

To: Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer, Rep. Ryan

From: A constituent in Rhinecliff, NY

November 11

I urge you to remove the harmful hemp language from the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. If passed, this language would ban nearly all hemp-derived products - including those with just trace amounts of THC that are non-intoxicating, federally legal, and life-changing for millions. The proposed 0.4 milligram total THC limit per container is not backed by science. It’s arbitrary, extreme, and would eliminate nearly every full-spectrum hemp product on the market. This language has nothing to do with reopening the government. It’s an extraneous provision that doesn’t just hurt businesses - it hurts people. We need responsible regulation, not prohibition. We need age restrictions, testing standards, and clear labeling - not a blanket ban that punishes the vulnerable. I urge you to strip this language from the bill. Protect access to full-spectrum hemp. Protect the right of Americans to make informed, science-backed decisions about their health.
