Curb mass firings of federal employees; restore oversight

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Scholten, Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Grand Rapids, MI

February 13, 2025

The mass firing of federal employees without Congressional oversight is concerning and raises questions about the motives behind such actions. Dismissing dedicated public servants en masse disrupts the functioning of government agencies and deprives the American people of institutional knowledge and expertise. I urge you to halt these purges immediately, provide clear justifications for any terminations, and restore proper procedures and checks on executive authority over the federal workforce. Unilateral mass firings undermine principles of good governance, accountability, and democratic norms that are vital to maintaining public trust. I request that you work collaboratively with Congress to address any perceived issues through legitimate, transparent means rather than pursuing unrestrained purges disconnected from legislative input.
