The ongoing situation in Gaza is incredibly alarming and disturbing. Despite claims of providing safe passage for civilians, the reality on the ground paints a different picture. Evacuation routes have been targeted, hospitals and shelters bombed, and civilians attempting to flee to safety have been shot at by snipers. Nowhere seems safe in Gaza. This is utterly unacceptable and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. The protection of civilians must be the utmost priority. Israel's actions are directly endangering innocent lives, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis, and further traumatizing an already besieged population. Imposing an immediate comprehensive arms embargo on Israel is a crucial step to halt the violence and force accountability. Concrete action is needed now to prevent further loss of life and ease the immense suffering of the people of Gaza. The world cannot turn a blind eye as this catastrophic situation unfolds.
