DO NOT PASS THE SAVE ACT HR22! Married women will be disenfranchised!

To: Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Warnock, Rep. Clyde

From: A constituent in Lawrenceville, GA

April 13

The SAVE Act aims to impose strict citizenship requirements for voter registration, mandating documentary proof of citizenship. While addressing ineligible voters is legitimate, this bill goes too far. It would create unnecessary barriers, disproportionately disenfranchising marginalized communities. Many eligible citizens lack accepted documents due to poverty, housing insecurity, or institutional barriers. This act fails to provide adequate safeguards, putting the burden on individuals rather than offering accessible alternatives or assistance. Furthermore, its draconian criminal penalties for officials are excessive. Securing elections should not come at the cost of suppressing the franchise. I urge you to reject this harmful legislation and instead work on measures that protect voting rights while maintaining integrity through non-discriminatory means. Our democracy is strongest when all eligible voices can participate freely.
