Condemn Israel for murdering journalists

Targeting journalists is a grave violation of human rights and the freedom of the press. The reported deaths of over 130 journalists, including 32 killed while working, by Israel forces in Gaza over the past year is alarming and unacceptable. These attacks undermine the ability for accurate, independent reporting to take place and deprive the world of vital information from one of the most closely watched conflict zones. Urgent action is needed to ensure the protection of journalists in Gaza and end the impunity for such crimes. Israel must uphold its obligations under international law and allow unhindered media access to Gaza. The right to freedom of expression and access to information is paramount, especially during times of conflict. I urge taking immediate steps to independently investigate these killings of journalists, hold perpetrators accountable, and implement robust measures to prevent future attacks on media workers. Silencing the press benefits no one and only serves to escalate tensions and erode human rights. All journalists must be able to work freely and without fear of violence to inform the world.
