I believe that half the nation is terrified to think about what’s coming next for our country, and the other half just hasn’t realized how bad this could get. One of the many things that is concerning is the fact that the in-coming administration is reportedly forgoing background checks on its cabinet nominees. I am extremely concerned about the national security risk that poses. I saw that Senior National Security and Intelligence Analyst for NBC News and MSNBC, Frank Figliuzzi, has suggested that President Biden should mandate through executive order that the FBI conduct background checks on Trump’s cabinet picks in advance of him entering the White House. I think the American people need this done and we should see the results. Shining a light on anything corrupt or nefarious feels like our only defense. I respectfully ask that you advocate for this with the White House and President Biden. I greatly appreciate all that you do for Illinois and our country, and know that you will continue to fight for our democracy to the degree you are able. Thank you!
