Elected officials: You are success stories, within the system of government, law, society, and culture as it is. You realize what Citizens United has done to us inasmuch as you depend on immense fundraising efforts to maintain your status as success stories. Your efforts to help the planet, to produce social progress, to encourage education and even troublemaking for constructive purposes, and to resist the current kakistocracy so well funded by the swindlers among Big Business, those efforts of yours are all tempered, tamped down in effect, so that no spark from us, the hoi polloi, those who haven't succeeded as significantly, can succeed. If we get an audience, it is brief, and just as quickly marginalized. And the planet, and America, are well past the need of saving. Perhaps you need to act for the general welfare now, not just your enlightened self interest. What will you do?
