I am writing to express my absolute outrage regarding the current "major combat operations" being conducted against Iran without a formal declaration of war or Congressional approval.
The reports of a girls' elementary school in southern Iran being destroyed, resulting in the deaths of dozens of children, are a stain on our nation. Furthermore, the President’s dismissive statement that American casualties "happen in war" shows a reckless disregard for the lives of our citizens and our military. Congress has a constitutional duty to act as a check on executive power. I demand that you immediately:
Invoke the War Powers Act to halt these unauthorized strikes. Initiate immediate oversight hearings regarding the targeting of civilian infrastructure. Publicly condemn the administration's circumvention of Congressional authority.
We cannot wait for the next election.
