I desperately urge you to support SJ Res 114. The state of Israel has repeatedly flouted international law in its response to the October 7th attacks last year and the result has been catastrophic for the Palestinian people and the entire Middle East region.
When other countries break humanitarian law and kill civilians, journalists and aid workers with even a modicum of Israel’s recklessness, the US normally is a leading voice in levying sanctions against that country. The US’s special relationship with Israel has resulted in an exception to this type of policy. As a result, citizen taxpayers like myself have funded and enabled well-documented war crimes through the actions of our government.
Polls in key swing states in an August IMEU poll indicated that many democratic-leaning voters in PA, GA and AZ were more likely to vote for candidates with a stronger approach to brokering a ceasefire. I believe a Democratic Party that is more consistent on human rights will be a more electorally successful party, even despite the opposition I’m sure you would endure from some large donors.
Please stand up for what is right and block further sales of weapons to Israel.
