Support small businesses facing tariff uncertainty and disruptions

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted, Rep. Balderson, Sen. Schaffer, Gov. DeWine, Rep. Claggett

From: A constituent in Reynoldsburg, OH

April 14

Trump's shifting tariff policies on Chinese imports have created immense uncertainty and difficulties for small businesses across the United States. Many companies rely heavily on manufacturing in China due to its unparalleled expertise, supply chain integration, and ability to accommodate small production runs cost-effectively. Abruptly moving operations would require rebuilding complex ecosystems cultivated over decades, likely resulting in severe quality and affordability issues that could drive customers away. The tariffs threaten to force businesses into untenable choices between retaining employees or pricing themselves out of the market. I urge you to advocate for policies that provide stability and a reasonable transition period, allowing these vital enterprises to adapt sustainably without devastating disruptions to their operations and workforce.
