The U.S. Must Stay Out of War Between Israel and Iran

To: Sen. Collins, Pres. Trump, Rep. Pingree, Sen. King

From: A constituent in South Portland, ME

June 17

I urge you in the strongest possible terms to oppose any U.S. military involvement in a war between Israel and Iran. The United States cannot afford to be drawn into another devastating and costly conflict in the Middle East. A regional war between Israel and Iran would likely spiral beyond anyone’s control—risking American lives, destabilizing the global economy, and escalating tensions with nuclear powers. Our nation must exercise restraint, diplomacy, and a clear-eyed understanding of what is in our best interest. The American people do not want another war. We face pressing needs at home—from the economy and healthcare to climate change and national security. Sending U.S. troops, arms, or funding into this conflict would not make us safer. It would do the opposite. I ask you to publicly and unequivocally oppose any authorization for use of military force, funding for offensive operations, or covert escalation that would entangle the U.S. in war with Iran. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. Please stand for peace and diplomacy.
