Condemn Israel for intentionally massacring journalists to hide their warcrimes

To: Sen. Blumenthal, Rep. Courtney, Pres. Biden, Sen. Murphy

November 4

The systematic killing of Palestinian journalists by Israel forces is an appalling attack on press freedom and human rights. With 174 journalists murdered by Israel in just the past year, this is far beyond the annual global average and represents one of the largest massacres of media workers in recent history. Israel's actions deprive Palestinians of their voice and ability to document the atrocities being committed. This wanton violence against truth-tellers cannot be tolerated. Israel's policy of deliberately targeting and killing journalists cannot continue with impunity. The international community must take concrete measures to protect media personnel and hold Israel accountable for these egregious crimes against the press. Failure to do so sets a dangerous precedent enabling further violence against those exposing injustice worldwide. Decisive action upholding journalists' right to work freely without fear of extrajudicial execution is imperative to preserving human rights and democracy. I urge you to support a resolution establishing a mechanism to safeguard Palestinian journalists in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2222. Those responsible for the killing of media workers must face consequences. The press plays a vital role, and these targeted attacks on truth and human dignity cannot go unanswered. Strong leadership protecting press freedoms is crucial at this juncture. Source: www.palestinechronicle.com/one-year-genocide-palestinian-journalists-killed-by-israel-more-than-double-world-average/ I demand you do everything in your power to: - Support a resolution establishing a mechanism to safeguard Palestinian journalists in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2222 – Hold Israel accountable to a permanent, immediate ceasefire and for their repeat violations of international law – Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid - Support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace – Secure the immediate release and safety of all hostages, including Palestinians held by Israel in "military prisons", including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7/24 – Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce U.S. laws like Leahy Law and the Arms Export Control Act – Resume full funding of UNRWA and allocate more funds to aid humanitarian efforts to rebuild Gaza, and provide Palestinians with the resources to survive and thrive – Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict - Void all anti-BDS laws and other laws that infringe on my right to freedom of speech to criticize any political ideology or country, and to use my money in ways that align with my values
